History
Kirsten Nicole Thurlow was born on July 23rd, 1983 to the college students, James Thurlow and Helen Tyree and brought about the beginnings of the struggle in their relationship. While James continued his education, Helen, decided she would quit school to focus on other things; her daughter’s best interest wasn’t her main goal. As a child, Kirsten developed a rebellious streak and started dating, the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, Adrian Stone in 1996. When the duo entered High School, however, they called things off when Adrian became interested in Gail Schmidt. Her ego bruised, Kirsten finally gave into football jock, Kent Wallace’s, advances and gave him her virginity, completely destroying her friendship with Adrian.
Despite her rocky upbringing, Kirsten developed the drive to succeed in the business industry just like her father had. She decided to stay in Stone Creek and attended Stone Creek Community College and after a failed attempt as a waitress, Kirsten took up a job with her father as a file clerk. Kent became a fixation for Kirsten once again but things burned slow for the couple and when she took her aunt Shannon Jurado up on an offer to go to Paris, France for the Summer, Kirsten promised she would come back to Kent. While in Paris, Kirsten met a mysterious man named Gavin Archambault and agreed to go on a date with him. After the date, however, he attempted to rape Kirsten and the woman was rescued by Charlie Sutton -- the two began a summer romance that left Kirsten pregnant with his child.
Kirsten came back home to Stone Creek and realized who Charlie actually was, this partnered with the fact that she found out she was pregnant with his child caused Kirsten to panic. She tried covering her tracks by taking her relationship with Kent to the next level and passing the baby off as his. On May 8th, 2003, Kirsten gave birth to Megan Nicole Wallace and tried to move on from her fling with Charlie. Business savvy Kirsten was able to acquire a cafe from a couple wanting to travel the world and she renamed it Alice’s Haven Cafe after the woman who had intrigued Kirsten as a child. Three years after Megan was born, Kent stumbled upon a postcard from Charlie that stated her fling. He became angered with Kirsten and broke things off with her, when he asked her if Megan was Charlie’s she couldn’t find it in her to lie to Kent and although he was devastated, he insisted that Kirsten keep it a secret so he could continue to help raise the baby girl he became attached to.
In 2008, Charlie Sutton came back to Stone Creek to help his father with Sutton Enterprises and he was stunned to see Kirsten in Stone Creek as well. Neither had talked about their families before and admitted that he sent the postcard to her cousin, Imogene, in order for it to get to Kirsten. Kent Wallace grew nervous that Kirsten would tell Charlie the truth about Megan. As the two became closer, Kirsten began to have returning feelings for Charlie. The truth came out about Megan when Kent finally gave up hope that Kirsten would come back to him and instead told Charlie about Megan and left town. Leaving Kirsten and Charlie in the middle of a feud that had started in the Thurlow and Sutton families years ago. Charlie stood by Kirsten’s side and they married in 2009, Megan’s last name being changed to Sutton later that year. But Charlie’s father, Patrick Sutton, was infuriated and tried desperately to break the couple up. In the end, Charlie left his father’s side with the last of his inheritance he purchased the Lakeside Inn and a cottage in Boulstridge Mountains for his small family. Kirsten was enamored with her new life.
Start of the Series...
After financially struggling to achieve their dreams, Kirsten insisted they re-connect with Patrick Sutton and against her husband’s will she often tried to reason with Patrick. But this proved not good enough as he held her personally responsible for Charlie abandoning his family.
In 2010, her old friend, Adrian Stone, arrived in Stone Creek months after Gail Schmidt had done so. This opened up old wounds as she was forced to face her first love. Although they flirted a couple times, it became apparent that Adrian was in town to make things work with Gail and when Megan disappeared for a couple of hours, Kirsten and Charlie, who had been on the outs with one another, were brought back together as a family when she re-appeared thanks to Damien Crenshaw. Often times set in her ways, people’s actions have always guided her opinions of them. She was the first one to point out Clifton Briggs’ reputation and also informed her family of how fragile Caitlyn Thurlow was. This helped Kirsten bully Caitlyn into getting a restraining order against Damien in late 2011.
When the news of her aunt’s passing in 2011, Kirsten and Charlie, gathered with a few members of her family and made the trip to Paris, France, to pay their respects. This trip helped Kirsten remember how and why she fell in love with Charlie in the first place. Kirsten was also the first one to stand-up for her cousin Aidan Jurado and hid the secret that he was bisexual from the family. When Aidan returned to Stone Creek with the family, Kirsten and Charlie helped Aidan adjust to his new life and Charlie gave Aidan a job at the Lakeside Inn. Kirsten also went on to let Helen Tyree Schmidt back into her life and allowed her to take care of Megan while both herself and Charlie were at work. This proved to be a bad decision for Kirsten when Helen chose work over Megan’s safety and angered Kirsten. She excluded Helen from her life once again.
On Christmas Eve of 2011, while visiting Charlene Sutton at the Holly Oak Manor, they found her face down and near death from an alcohol overdose. Worried about her daughter, who had witnessed the ordeal, Kirsten moved Megan into James’ and Caitlyn’s home in order for Kirsten and Charlie to help Charlene with her recovery in early 2012. She refused to let Charlene near Megan.
