History
Born on May 10th, 1988 to Stavros Lakhani and his wife, Thelma, Cassie Noel Lakhani was accompanied by her older brother by ten minutes, Callum Alejandro Lakhani. With big brown eyes and long brown hair Cassie was raised by Thelma with a delicate hand, much different than her older siblings; Iliana and Callum.
While in Middle School, she stuck close to her brother’s older best friend, Miles Fowler, during the Summer’s when her father Stavros took Callum on camping trips and although she wanted to accompany the men in her family she was advised to stay behind. This cemented the bond between Miles and Cassie that only grew as they got older. Although not one of the popular girls, Cassie grew into her native looks and landed herself a position on the cheerleading team. But during her freshman year things started to take a turn for the worse. Her brother began to have horrible mood swings and while overcome by rage would lash out at Cassie. When one of the girls on the cheerleading squad began to notice bruises on her body, she approached Miles to help with the situation. Cassie protested against Miles, pleading with him to not tell anyone. But when Miles witnessed one of Callum’s rages himself, he stood between the siblings and took the blow, forbidding Callum from ever touching his twin sister again.
Callum and Stavros soon vanished from Wolf’s Point.
The Summer Cassie graduated from High School she packed her bags and moved to Stone Creek where she became Marina Thurlow’s roommate at the Callahan Condo’s. They developed a close bond, Marina urged Cassie to become a model for her mother’s agency while Marina started working at the Stone Creek Ledger. While Marina was the love-struck boy crazy one of the two, Cassie retained a level-head and became a wise advice giver. They stood by each other when Natalie Marlowe arrived in Stone Creek eager to obtain both Cassie’s spot as Featured Model at HEAT Magazine and Marina’s boyfriend, Ryan Bauer.
Start of the Series...
In 2010 Cassie’s life was turned upside down when she discovered she was pregnant from a one-night stand she didn’t remember having. A stranger named Clifton Briggs sought out Cassie, in which he revealed that they had slept together. At first she claimed rape and she wanted to have an abortion. But through a series of events she decided to keep the baby and Clifton became more of a friend than a stranger. Soon they realized that someone had drugged the two of them but neither knew exactly why. With the help of her best friend, Marina, and Clifton, Cassie became more comfortable with her decision to keep the baby. She also relied on these two when she kept getting weird notes about the night she was drugged. Cassie finally met Clifton’s wife, Audrey Briggs, when she intruded on their home life. Although it crushed her seeing his wife, Cassie tried to focus on whoever was stalking her through the letters she was receiving. Much to Clifton’s dismay, Audrey found out about Cassie’s pregnancy and concluded the truth. Devastated she asked for a divorce from Clifton and although they tried to make their marriage work it was Audrey who left Clifton when Cassie finally went into labor. He went to her side when their son Lucian Henry Lakhani was born. Cassie revealed that she gave the baby boy the middle name of Henry to honor James Thurlow, the man who became like a father to her over the years.
Diem Joplin helped Cassie find the person responsible for the mystery letters. But one day when Cassie opened her front door and found Audrey on the other end her life changed. Accompanying Audrey was her mystery stalker, Catalina Cortez, who signed the papers as “Inez”. While holding both women hostage, Catalina revealed the true reason why she had been stalking the younger woman. She told Cassie that it was her who drugged both Clifton and herself. The objective was to show that Clifton was having an affair behind Audrey’s back because she was afraid that Clifton would leave her because she couldn’t produce a heir for his legacy. When it was revealed that Clifton had impregnated Cassie, Audrey was jealous and grew angry, she revised the plan and instead opted to guilt her husband Clifton out of all his money. But because Catalina was already unstable with the recent loss of her younger sister and her contract with Patrick Sutton, she held the two women hostage and was prepared to kill them both. Clifton arrived to Cassie’s apartment in time to unarm Catalina and diffuse the situation. Catalina was carted off to jail and Audrey was left to face the truth of her deception. Upon realizing that Clifton would never love her again, Audrey agreed to divorce him with a small settlement and left Stone Creek behind.
Because Helen Schmidt had fired Cassie, she decided that going back to school was her best option so she enrolled in Stone Creek Community College to get a Business Management Degree. While attending school she bumped into Helen’s old assistant, Mac Kern, and the two became close friends. Clifton began focusing on work, giving Cassie time to bond with Mac and focus on school. Mac showed a child-friendly side to Cassie and they both spent a lot more time together, much to Clifton’s dismay. In October of 2011, a fall from the couch ended with Lucian in the emergency room where Mac tried to calm Cassie down. Upon hearing what had happened, Clifton rushed to the hospital. He forbid Cassie from bringing Mac around his son and told her how disappointed her was in her. Clifton was angry that he had to hear about the accident from Marina instead of Cassie. When Cassie didn’t listen to Clifton, he ordered her to choose Mac or Clifton and Lucian and informed her that he would fight for custody of their son if she chose Mac. Although she asked Emmet Thurlow to represent her in December, Cassie knew that Clifton was a powerful foe and opted to end things with Mac Kern instead. During the New Years Eve Ball, Mac tried to win Cassie back, but she refused to let Clifton have Lucian and instead turned away from Mac once again. This brought her outside on the balcony where she witnessed a mysterious assailant gun down her friend Miles Fowler and then turn the gun on her.
Cassie Lakhani recovered from the bullet wound to her abdomen, but because of the position of the bullet and the damage it caused, she learned that she would be unable to carry a baby full term. She was thankful to have kept Lucian and not aborted him when she initially found out about the pregnancy. Then Cassie realized that she would never truly be happy with Mac because she wouldn’t be able to give him children so she opted to end their relationship for good and moved in with Clifton Briggs to keep herself safe.
It was revealed that the shooter during her attack was her twin brother, Callum Lakhani. This devastated Cassie as she tried to cope with the news and that her closest friend, Miles, was still in a coma after the shooting. Although she could have lost her life, Cassie stood by her brother’s side and maintained that he was innocent. When Miles woke up from his coma she took a lashing from him for defending Callum. He reminded Cassie of their past with her brother and admitted that he thought Callum deserved being in prison. With the death of Emily Roscoe in mid 2012 Miles opted to help Cassie find out who was behind the shooting since Callum wouldn’t confess the truth. Miles and Cassie figured that it had something to do with her father, Stavros Lakhani. But when they tried to track him down they were surprised that Stavros had come to seek them out instead. Stavros admitted he was there to not only get Callum our of jail but he wanted to bond with Cassie and her son, Lucian.
Clifton revealed that the current Mayor, Damien Crenshaw, had placed him on the City Council. This troubled Cassie since Damien had a very tenacious past with Caitlyn Thurlow and the rest of the Thurlow family. Although she warned Clifton to be careful of Damien, she didn’t fight his new found friendship.
