History
Patrick Claude Sutton was born in June of 1964 to Cutler Sutton and his dear wife, Maisie. The youngest child Patrick was spoiled by his mother and taught to wield the power of his last name by his father. He spent most of his time with his mother while his older siblings were passed along to nannies and private schools. When it was revealed that his father had once had an affair with his secretary, Nancy Keeler, he obtained custody of his daughter Kimberly and she came to live with them in the Holly Oak Manor. Nancy settled in Stone Creek as well, on the outskirts with her son, Seth.
Patrick was known as the ‘playboy’ of Stone Creek High School. Ruthlessly he would bed the girls, wether they had boyfriends or not, and then proceed to forget that ever existed. He struck-up a friendship with an older Isabelle Wilkinson who was a player in her own.
When Shannon Thurlow was introduced to him by Isabelle he fell head-over-heels for the Freshman but because of his standing and her naivety his friends began to tease him. Shannon’s older brother constantly warned her to stay away from Patrick and once he caught wind of the accusations, Patrick decided to mess with the siblings relationship. His friends convinced him to have sex with Shannon and record it. He was able to do the deed and while having a part at the Holly Oak Manor during his Junior Year of High School, Patrick played the tape for everyone to see. Both Shannon and Isabelle witnessed the sight when they decided to crash the party and a drunken Shannon ran off, leaving Isabelle to slap Patrick and promising to cause him hell. He was later expelled from Stone Creek High and his parents sent him to a private school in Paris to join his siblings.
After he graduated, Patrick went on to attend New York University against his father’s wishes and became a drunken frat boy who wanted nothing but to forget about his brief romance with Shannon Thurlow. When Patrick finally finished college, he was able to snag an Intern job thanks to his mother’s strings at Jefferson Cosmetics. In 1983 his parents were involved in a terrible car accident that brought Patrick back to Stone Creek to attend the funeral. Although it was very obvious that Patrick was their parents favorite child, Cutler left Peter in charge of the family business, naming him the Chief Executive Officer of Sutton Enterprises. This left Patrick with a bad taste in his mouth, upon learning that Shannon had also left Stone Creek to marry a man named Mathias Jurado, Patrick drunkenly stumbled onto a somber Charlene Nelson. A girl he never paid any attention to in High School. Feeling sorry for her, he decided that courting Charlene would be his new project and a few short months afterwards he surprised everyone by proposing marriage to Charlene, they wed in September of 1984.
Since Peter was made CEO of Sutton Enterprises, Patrick was respectfully named Chief Financial Officer. This began a war between the siblings that would last for years until Patrick was able to con Peter out of the family business. Although Patsy and Kimberly both advised Patrick not to do so, Patrick seized Sutton Enterprises and named himself CEO and ordered Peter to leave Stone Creek.
Gillian Juliet Sutton was born in 1986 and she accompanied her older brother, Charlie Heath Sutton, who was born right before the marriage of Patrick and Charlene in 1983.
Because Patrick was too busy running his father’s empire, their marriage fell to the wayside and he allowed Charlene to carry-out one-night stands but forbid her from falling in love with any of the men or he would divorce her. He went along to do the same thing. Helen Thurlow came to Patrick in hopes that he would be able to help her start her magazine and with her daughter’s trust fund, which he asked her to take in order to stick it to James, they created HEAT Magazine. She bestowed him Co-Owner of the company.
Patrick treated both Charlie and Gillian like heirs to his company, but like heirs he groomed them to never take over the company. Patrick planned to live forever. He sent both his children to boarding schools in Paris once they were old enough to attend school. While on a trip to see her cousin’s, Kirsten Thurlow was rescued by Charlie and they began a romance in Paris that would soon produce a daughter, Megan Nicole Sutton. Kirsten passed the baby off as her friend Kent’s daughter when she returned to the states. But upon Charlie’s return it was revealed that he was really Megan’s father and they decided to take care of her, together. This angered Patrick as he saw no Thurlow being fit in the Sutton legacy after his feud with James. Patrick cut Charlie out of the family and stripped him of his trust fund.
Start of the Series...
In 2010, his absent daughter Gillian returned to Stone Creek on the arm of mysterious and older Damien Crenshaw. Patrick plotted to find a way to get Damien out of his daughter’s life and often blamed James for the man being in his life since Damien was once married to Caitlyn Thurlow. It was Patrick and Charlene who tried to control their daughter’s life. But when Gillian was finally through with her father’s controlling ways she left the Holly Oak Manor and went to live with her fiance, Damien at the Old Granger Manor.
Unbeknownst to Patrick, his wife had been carrying on an affair with Kevin Saunders since 2009 and spent many hours with Kevin professing her love. After Patrick chased Charlie out of the family, she kept silent about her anger with Patrick. But after Gillian stormed out during the Holiday’s, Charlene stood up for her children and left the Holly Oak Manor as well. She ran into Kevin’s arms.
2011 brought Catalina Cortez to Patrick Sutton when she was looking for a company to bring her ideas to life. Although her demands were unusual for Patrick to accept, it was Catalina’s persistence that intrigued Patrick and after an altercation the two of them had sex in his office to seal the partnership. He later also enlisted Kevin Saunders to help him make a fool out of Damien Crenshaw and pretend that Abigail Jenkins was really ‘Danielle Crenshaw’ they were able to pull it off and get out from underneath the whole mess. Diem Joplin discovered the truth behind Patrick scheme and once the secret was out he was angry to find out that Gillian stood by Damien’s side.
There was an accident involving Penelope Wilkinson and many of the younger residents of Stone Creek when she crashed her car into a local bar. Not only was Gillian injured and released to Damien’s custody, but so was Catalina’s younger sister Isobel Cortez who succumbed to her injuries. This prompted Catalina to hold Dr. David Schmidt and Penelope hostage at the hospital. So Patrick weaseled his way out of their contract and left Catalina dry.
Patrick Sutton found out about his wife’s affair with Kevin Saunders and instead of divorcing Charlene like he had stated in their agreement he bullied Charlene into returning to the Holly Oak Manor and guilted Kevin into being his campaign manager while he ran for Mayor of Stone Creek.
Late one night while working at Sutton Enterprises, Patrick Sutton was shot and left for dead by a mysterious assailant. Although he had thought that Kevin was the suspect he told Chief Wilkinson that he had no suspicions. It was later revealed that it was Catalina who had shot Patrick for his unethical way of treating her. Before his campaign was over, Kevin Saunders left town to pursue his ex. wife. Patrick welcomed Ryan Bauer to his campaign and used Ryan’s past with Marina to manipulate her into writing an article that exposed his opponent, Jared Marlowe, for the adulterous man that he was. This left Marina at odds with boyfriend, Ian Kiefer. Jared later dropped out of the race and left Stone Creek for San Diego.
Patrick Sutton started to have vivid dreams of his ex. girlfriend, Shannon Jurado and with these dreams his feelings for her started to resurface. But things came to a tragic stop when he got news that Shannon had died in a car accident, Patrick turned to alcohol and crashed the Thurlow’s get-together in Stone Creek, a drunken mess. He later gave a necklace to his son, Charlie to bury with Shannon. With Kevin out of the picture and Charlene back at the Holly Oak Manor, Patrick tried to seduce her back into his bed. But it didn’t work and she admitted that it was already too late for their marriage. Charlene turned to alcohol to repress her strong feelings for Kevin.
In late 2011, Patrick was thrown a curve ball when Damien Crenshaw jumped back into his life and started a campaign against Patrick for Mayor of Stone Creek. Patrick tried to get Gillian to convince Damien to drop out of the race but his daughter refused to go against Damien. So Patrick campaigned heavily only to have it all be for nothing and Damien Crenshaw was elected the new Mayor of Stone Creek thanks to Clifton Briggs who rigged the votes. With the help of Helen Schmidt, Patrick later found out that there was some sort of connection between Damien and Clifton and he vowed to find out what it was.
During Christmas Eve of that year, his son Charlie and his family found Charlene Sutton motionless on the floor in the Holly Oak Manor. Although they believed her to be dead, they later found out that Charlene had alcohol poisoning and nearly died. Patrick had a moment of weakness and blamed himself for Charlene’s addiction to alcohol, he pleaded with Seth Keeler to keep Charlene’s name out of the press and later appeared at her side to comfort her. They finally admitted to one-another that their marriage never worked because they weren’t in love with each other. Charlene filed for divorce and moved into her son’s house.
A corporate take over was underway and Patrick had no idea that he had left his father’s company vulnerable while he focused and failed at his own venture. During a meeting for Sutton Enterprises, Gillian Sutton revealed to her father that she had gathered enough shares in the company to relieve him of his position and she dubbed herself the new Chief Executive Officer of SE. Gillian also reduced her father to a stockholder and convinced Patrick that it was for his own good since she had caught wind that her husband was trying to take over the family business.
In 2012, Patrick entered into a dangerous affair with Helen Schmidt.
