Cassie Lakhani scampered around the condo trying to collect her books and gather Lucian’s things together for her best friend. This was the part of the week that she dreaded, leaving Lucian with someone else while she left for her weekly visit at Stone Creek Community College.
Although her classes were online, which meant she could juggle taking care of Lucian and do school at the same time. Cassie did have one day a week where she had to leave Lucian in someone else’s care while she went to review with her course instructor. Since today was Clifton’s day of work, she had to rely on Marina.
“Are you getting everything together for the next ten years of Lucian’s life?” Marina Thurlow asked entering the Kitchen in her PJ’s. Cassie’s eyes darted up at her best friend before she found amusement in what she was talking about. “Is everything alright?”
