Catalina Cortez watched as her sister slumbered peacefully in the room. How could her over-the-top, drama queen of a younger sister be confined to a bed and unable to move. It didn’t make any sense to her, nor did it to the doctors who had been treating Isobel.
She had spent days sitting across from her.
The commotion going on in the rest of the hospital was numb to Catalina. She even managed to forget Audrey Briggs’ threats to expose her as ‘Inez’ the perpetrator behind the Cassie and Clifton fiasco. For months she lived two separate lives.
It was something that Catalina was used to. In order to protect herself, Isobel and all the others in her organization she needed to live two separate lives. In order to help herself keep sane. Her eyes haven’t shed a tear in years and tonight wasn’t going to break that.
