He placed her coat on the couch in the living room and admired his wife as she peered out the massive window and watched the snow as it began to fall. It had only been hours into the evening and the snow was already starting to fall heavily, he knew they would need to leave the house soon if they wanted to make it to the Lakeside Inn before the storm began. It was a tradition of sorts. For most of the people in Stone Creek to get wherever they were meant to be before the late February winter storm hit. Everyone knew from experience they would be stuck -- in wherever it was they choose -- for the next couple hours, if not days.

James cleared his throat and watched her spin around. “I didn’t even know you were there,” Caitlyn admitted, she bashfully batted her eyes and joined him near the couch, “I just can’t believe how fast the snow is picking up today, I really hope that everyone makes it up Boulstridge Mountain with no trouble.”

“I am sure everyone will make it there just fine.” James assured his wife.

He lifted her coat and helped Caitlyn maneuver into it. The woman spun around flaunting her long flowing emerald green dress. It wasn’t her color, but she knew how much it meant to Emily, so she chose it anyways if it feel closer to her daughter today.

“You look remarkable.” James said, his eyes gleamed with delight.

Caitlyn sighed heavily and he knew she was thinking of Emily. Today was about bringing the community together and trying to move forward from the tragedies that the storm tended to bring with it. He knew with experience that it was a terrible storm that never faulted. “Emily would have loved that dress, I can assure you that.”

“I would have loved to share it with her, you know, I just couldn’t put it down when I saw it at Kelly’s Boutique last week,” her words get lost in the frost that has begun to invade to room from the small gaps int he windowsill. Caitlyn shudders noticeably, then she wrapped the coat around her slim body and wrapped her hands around her husband’s right arm. “I’m still nervous about tonight.”
