Kirsten Sutton comforted her step-mother, Caitlyn as they waited for news about James Thurlow. She had felt bad that she arrived two hours after everyone else in her family, but she needed to mask the fact that she had indeed been visiting with Patrick Sutton who arrived an hour ago.
Skillfully she watched as the man sat in the waiting room on the opposite side with Charlene, his wife. She knew the two had recently spent months apart so she had no idea that Charlene would seek comfort in Patrick. But Kirsten knew that Patrick was skilled at bringing his family together.
Even if he had to pay some people off. Patrick locked eyes with Kirsten, who heavily darted her attention to her husband, Charlie.
How could she have made a deal with Patrick? He was a man that her family had referred to as the devil on many occasions. Kirsten could feel Charlie pull her into a hug and she let him. Trying to keep her mind on the events at hand. Her father was just finishing up his surgery.
She watched as David Schmidt walked up to the family with what looked like grim news. “Is everyone here?”
